When you hire a promotional bus, it’s easy to assume the driver becomes part of your event team for the day.
In reality, their role is much more focused and specific.
Read on to see what your bus driver does (and doesn’t do!), so you can plan more effectively and get the exact level of support you need.
Our drivers are responsible for safely transporting your bus from one location to another.
That includes:
Collecting and delivering the vehicle
Navigating to site safely and on schedule
Positioning the bus in the agreed location
Helping with vehicle-specific needs on arrival
Being available to move the bus if required
Returning the vehicle at the end of your campaign
Once the bus is in position, their main role is essentially complete. They won’t work throughout your activation, and nor will they form part of the wider events team.
Our bus drivers often travel long distances to make campaigns happen, so it’s essential they get enough rest before jumping back onboard at the end of the day.
While they’re not responsible for running your campaign, our drivers are usually happy to assist with anything vehicle related.
Depending on the details, they can help connect your vehicle to the power supply, explain onboard features, and perform light tasks around the bus itself. Your driver will also be happy to answer any questions you have about the vehicle.
This support should be seen as friendly assistance rather than event management.
To avoid confusion, your driver isn’t responsible for:
Managing event staff
Coordinating suppliers
Running event schedules
Managing guests or attendees
Handling product sampling teams
Supervising brand ambassadors
Organising campaign logistics
Acting as the main point of contact
These responsibilities typically fall to the event manager, campaign manager, or client-side activation team.
The bus driver delivers the vehicle. The event manager delivers the experience.
An event manager will:
Oversee the whole activation from start to finish
Coordinate suppliers and staff
Act as the point of contact throughout the campaign
Deal with any issues quickly, as they arise
Free your staff up to focus on customer engagement
Both the driver and event manager play an important role, but one can’t do the job of the other. That’s why it’s important to get the support you need on the day.
Alongside promotional vehicle hire, we can provide an event manager to oversee your activation and keep everything running smoothly. We can also support your campaign with sampling and fulfilment, venue planning, enhanced logistics, and more.
Whether you simply need a driver to deliver your bus or a full support team to help bring your activation to life, we can tailor our services to suit your campaign.
