How can a South Korean fragrance brand take the UK by storm and win new fans? Born to Stand Out faced this very challenge, needing a bold way to cause a scene in the run-up to Christmas. They answered with one cracker of a fragrance campaign, bringing a tuk tuk, influencers, and retail sampling to the people.
Here’s how a festive, three-city tour helped this foreign brand live up to its name – launching with impact and energy for an unforgettable experience.

Who Are Born to Stand Out?
Born to Stand Out believes in letting its products do the talking through daring scent profiles and a playful approach to storytelling. With a strong following across Asia, the brand was ready to bring its unique identity to the UK market.
Customers can expect bold perfumes and rich formulas. So, it makes sense that an equally bold fragrance campaign would be right for the brand! Just as importantly, Born to Stand Out believes in forging real connections via in-person events.
In the UK, Phoenix Beauty leads on distribution, while Profile PR takes charge of their PR and social media content.

What was the brief?
Born to Stand Out felt that a live fragrance campaign would introduce the brand to a UK audience in a memorable way. It would also generate influencer-led content and deliver fragrance sampling on a large scale. With their perfumes and creams hitting Harrods and H-Beauty shelves, it would also need to drive guests to nearby stores for an uptick in sales.
Through Profile PR and Phoenix Beauty, the brand asked us to create a mobile activation that was part fragrance and part influencer campaign. And while everyone agreed that a tuk tuk would be ideal for its compact size and Asian heritage, they’d need us for more than just the promotional vehicle.
We’d have to support them with all their campaign needs across Glasgow, Gateshead, and London – with ‘wild sampling’ routes to take the public by surprise. Each city would follow a two-day schedule: the first for influencer drops and content creation, and the second for sampling.

This major project had lots of moving parts, but it all began with a discovery call where agency staff could talk ideas, challenges, and how to achieve Born to Stand Out’s aims. Branding the decorative tuk tuk
Our team wrapped the tuk tuk in a vibrant red vinyl with decorative white details, all so it would turn heads wherever it went. The vehicle would act as the central focus and a brand showcase, reflecting their bold personality and festive spirit.

Managing locations and logistics
While the tuk tuk was being transformed, Promohire liaised with local authorities and shopping centres to secure venues like Silverburn in Glasgow and Metrocentre in Gateshead. By managing locations on the brand’s behalf, we removed the stress of site booking and ensured a smooth setup for the live events.
We also planned the best routes, used a trailer to move the tuk tuk between cities, and even drove it locally during wild sampling drops.
Hiring the faces of the campaign
What is a fragrance campaign without friendly faces for in-person engagement? We hired brand ambassadors to represent Born to Stand Out and take responsibility for handing out samples and keeping the excitement levels up. With their professionalism and charm, every interaction would make a great impression.

Storing and delivering every sample
With a last-minute change to the brief, we stepped in to handle storage and distribution of all 10,000 samples. From secure warehousing to on-site restocking, we made sure everything arrived in perfect condition and exactly where it needed to be.

Capturing the best moments
Finally, our videographer captured live footage of the London event in action. The content was colour-graded and supplied the next day for the client’s social media team, helping to amplify the campaign and extend its reach online.
What was the result?
This festive fragrance campaign saw massive engagement across three cities, with almost the full 10,000 samples distributed in just a few days.
The bulk were handed out at the live sampling events in Glasgow and Gateshead, with the rest being delivered to lucky Londoners at the wild sampling activation.
Influencers amped up the online buzz, sharing high-quality content to showcase the tuk tuk, complete with its festive wrap. This momentum kept the campaign going well beyond the event itself, helping Born to Stand Out gain a foothold here in the UK.
